When you think you’re in control

We all know the sayings that are synonymous with work: hustle and grind. But what we are saying by these words isn’t what we are trying to convey or even our own doing.
To grind something means to wear away at the object with force or with struggle. Hustle is to force someone in a specified direction. These words speak to the brute strength of making something work that often shouldn’t. Like a music star who has to hustle or move quickly on the opportunities they have.
I don’t want either of these words to be associated with the way I conduct my passions anymore. The grind of something doesn’t appeal to me. I don’t want to force something that isn’t meant to be there.
“A person’s heart plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps.”
Proverbs 16:9 CSB
I can only direct my life to follow a certain path. I point the ship but it’s God‘s sea that will take me to my destination. I can think I’m in control but Solomon’s Proverb writing that tells me it’s not in my control at all. It’s in God’s hands.
im done hustling. I’m done grinding. When you trust in Jesus you can work knowing the means and the end are synchronous.
